To begin to describe how amazing today’s #mommymonday mom is let me share with you her latest photo from Facebook.
Yup, her current situation is shopping for a kimono to wear on her trip to Japan. Why is she going to Japan? Because that’s where her son decided they should go for his spring break. He’s 11. And that boy has more passport stamps than some adults that I know.
Shamel isn’t just a super mom because she takes him on trips, even though let’s be real that makes her kind of super. She is a firm believer in experiences. When they travel she doesn’t let him get away with just eating McDonald’s in their latest foreign land (I mean she doesn’t even let him get away with eating McDonald’s locally) but you know what I mean. She makes sure at least part of their trip is spent learning and living the culture that they are visiting.
At home she is just as super. She is the parent the school calls to represent them. She is in touch with his teacher and is a staple in his classroom. When the class studied Matilda this mama had the teacher set up a special extra credit project and took the children that completed it to see Matilda on Broadway (I didn’t get to help chaperone).
She’s currently planning his 5th grade graduation party. When her son started taking swim classes she was the mom standing on the side of the pool holding signs up for motivation.
She is constantly my motivation. She is my sounding board when I am trying to figure this parenting thing out and she is my laughter when I want to cry. Don’t think I could do this mommy thing without her.
If you have a mom that you would like featured in a future edition of #mommymondays please email me her social media links and a blurb on why she should be featured.
