What happens when I get invited to get an advance sneak peek at the newest thing that is going to be on everyone’s wish list but I’ll be out of town? Do I say no and make you and me miss out on the inside scoop? No way! I enlist my village. While JustaBXgirl and I were visiting family in North Carolina JustaBXgrandpa and one of my nephews were working hard testing out the new Beyond Tablet.
I didn’t know much about what they were walking into other than that they had the chance to hang out having lunch along side some of my favorite blogging buddies at The Children’s Museum Of Manhattan (which we love and have a membership to) and that they would get to play with the yet to be released Beyond Tablet.
What is the Beyond Tablet? It is a screen-less tablet that simply put brings board games to life. You place one of the Beyond games on top of the tablet and it comes alive. The tablet gives instructions and can even offer feedback. There’s no opportunity to get bored as you can interchange the game pieces making it feel like a brand new game every time. It allows up to four players to get in on the fun. And you will have fun.
The Beyond Tablet comes with five games and is available on Amazon. The games that it comes with are both educational and enjoyable. Yes or No would be a favorite in my home. It’s a trivia game that can be played from age 4 to adult with a varying difficulty that can lead to adults learning too! Happy Tunes is reminiscent of Simon and requires the players to pay attention and repeat the patterns. This would be frustrating for JustaBXgirl and me. We always mess up on the Shopkins version of this on my phone. All of the games that come with the system have an underlying educational appeal. That makes me happy. It is a little expensive at $199.00 so this would be a big ticket item but would also be a fun family gift where you know it would be used.
And of course there are additional game pieces that you can purchase to use with the Beyond Tablet. My nephew and JustaBXgrandpa really enjoyed The Battle Of The Submarines. The Battle Of The Submarines has the same premise as Battleship. And who doesn’t love sinking someone’s battleship? I’m really considering adding this as the group gift for JustaBXgirl and her cousins for Christmas. As you know we all love board games and this seems like a good way to up the ante on family game night. We will see. Do you think your children would like it? What would be their favorite game?
