Remember when I told you to keep an eye out for Dr. Panda Plus: Home Designer after attending the Kids & Family Tech Expo? Let me tell you how it was the star of our Halloween Party. Shoutout to Dr. Panda for sending us a party in a box because this mama was slacking on getting party planning together even though JustaBXgirl has been asking for a Halloween party since August! Don’t judge me! I know I’m not the only slacker.
Either way, I pulled it together and then Mother Nature hated on me! Thanks to the crazy amount of rain happening in NYC we lost a little more than half of our expected ghoulish guests. Don’t worry, we still had lots of fun. JustaBXgirl and I spent the morning decorating with our Dr. Panda decorations. They were perfect as they’re the right amount of fun without being too spooky for smaller guests. Sadly, it was most of the smaller guests we lost due to the downpour. Still, even with a few people, we had tons of fun.
My niece felt too grown to wear a costume but not too grown to do some interior decorating with Dr. Panda. My nephews were pirates and JustaBXgirl was some type of ballerina. JustaBXgrandpa was on facepainting duty. We had photo props and with a Pandora Halloween party playlist jamming in the background we got down to party business.
We started the day with a family favorite. Knock knock jokes and riddles. That kept everyone entertained for about ten minutes! Let me tell you when you have a 7 and 9-year-old boy around all they want to do is play video games. I couldn’t get them interested in bobbing for apples or making mummies. The only way I was able to get them off the Minecraft was by pulling out Home Designer. You might think I’m joking but when they saw the girls customizing the furniture their interest was peaked.
My tween niece was loving seeing her name on everything in the game. She made customized shirts and wallpaper along with a nightstand that JustaBXgirl said was PERFECT. The boys are a bit competitive and when they sat down at the table they kept peeking at each other’s work. My younger nephew decided his project was top secret and wouldn’t let us see it until he finished. It really was a nice sofa.
Dr. Panda has long been a favorite of JustaBXgirl (and apparently many other children in the world). They’re the second largest paid kids’ app developer with more than 74 million downloads worldwide. They focus on apps for children between 3 – 8 but I honestly believe that they’re for everyone. Dr. Panda Plus: Home Designer is a great way to introduce augmented reality to littles. Home Designer comes with two modes, decorator, and quest. JustaBXgirl and the tween prefer decorator, her boy cousins preferred the quest mode.
JustaBXgirl likes building the words once she scans the object into the app, her cousins were a bit over that seeing as how they think they’ve mastered spelling. Don’t tell them but I think they can use the help.I like watching her create stories based on the characters. We were all excited to see the fridge open and the sponge get soapy.
This app is great for independent play and for family fun just like all of the Dr. Panda apps. And just in time for Halloween, make sure if you don’t already have it you download Dr. Panda Candy factory. Talk about a tasty way to get into the Halloween spirit! Your littles can decorate candy and satisfy their sweet tooth without chowing down on the sugary sweets.
Oh and since I’m not that into tricking I want to treat one of you to experience Candy Factory in all its greatness. Yup, I will be giving away one code to redeem the extras in Candy Factory. I will be picking the winner on Halloween!
