As you know we are a board game family but if you’ve been following us for a while you know we do enjoy video games as well. I bonded with my dad as a child playing them and now I watch (and sometimes join in) as JustaBXgirl and her cousins play games with JustaBXgrandpa. Choosing the type of game to play can be a little complicated. I want age-appropriate games that will instill positive lessons in education and teambuilding. I know, I know, that’s asking a lot from a video game. Especially since all they want is fun. Here are three games that meet both of our requirements!
LEGO Dimensions – We LOVE this. The starter pack comes with three characters and lots of adventure. The fun doesn’t stop there though. You can add to the fun by adding expansion packs. I read recently that they would not be continuing to add on new packs but this year saw some fun ones including Powerpuff Girls and Teen Titans Go!T his is the type of game that both big and little can enjoy together or separately. And part of the game is putting together LEGO models, how cool is that? We just bought a new case to hold all of our game figures.
Firefighters The Simulation – Ever wonder what it would be like to be a firefighter? This game lets you experience being one of the brave as you and your team put out many different types of fires. Now don’t get too excited. When you first start out you have to start small. That’s what I like about the game. It isn’t just about the action and adventure of putting out fires the games educates the player on some of the behind the scenes moments that most people don’t stop and think about. It gives more of a behind the scenes look at firefighting than if you just automatically put out a burning bridge.
LEGO Marvel Super Heroes 2 – We haven’t gotten this one yet but let me tell you that LEGO Marvel Super Heroes was the first game JustaBXgirl played. It has a special place in my heart and I cannot wait for us to get our hands on this one!
