School just started in NYC but that doesn’t mean the fun has to end. There is always something to do and this weekend we’re trying something new. We’re attending “Feathers of Fire: A Persian Epic,” said to be the most elaborate shadow theater experience ever created.
What is shadow theater you ask? It is a traditional form of storytelling said to have originated in East Asia. It found popularity in London and Paris during the eighteenth and nineteenth centuries and can still be seen regularly in places like Bali. Shadow theater is a display in which the shadows of flat jointed puppets are cast on a screen that is viewed by the audience from the other side. Check out the Youtube video preview of Feathers of Fire.
When we watched the clip both JustaBXgirl and I said, “Whoa.” It looks magical and we can’t wait to see this epic adventure together.
