NYC Experience Gift Guide

NYC Experience Gift Guide

We received some of these opportunities for review purposes. As always, all opinions are honest and my own.

What do you give someone who has everything? An experience. We live in NYC so these are the experiences mainly happening in NYC. Most of the places probably have a version in most major cities so if you’re not in NYC, I hope that you can still find some inspiration. I’ve also included some memberships because sometimes an experience needs to be revisited over and over again!

My First Nutcracker – What better way to let your littles feel grown up than by taking them to the theater? What’s even better? Taking them to a children’s theater where they can interact with the show and it is shorter than a traditional show. This version is 45 minutes long and expects littles to dance along with performers. They will even be having sensory-friendly shows.

Momix – How amazing does this show look??? We cannot wait to check it out. The show runs through January 7th so you can give tickets for Christmas and have time to attend after the holidays. It seems like the type of show that will have you reflecting on the performances well after you’ve left the theater.

The Yorkville Nutcracker – If you’re looking for a more traditional show to check out for the holidays run to The Kaye Playhouse this weekend. Dances Patrelle presents The Yorkville Nutcracker from December 14-17, 2023. The Nutcracker is one of those stories that can be told time and time again and there is always something new to find magic in.

Bronx Zoo Membership – We have had a membership to The Bronx Zoo since JustaBXgirl was a baby. We visit it regularly and love to go to special member events. The reality in NYC (and most other places) is that buying a membership is more cost-effective than paying for admission multiple times a year. We use the zoo for homeschooling. We use the zoo for playdates with friends. We use the zoo for being outside.

NYBG Membership – I have to be honest. Before 2020, I didn’t want to pay to go to walk around and look at trees and flowers. I mean, we have Central Park nearby! Then the world shut down, and we didn’t have many places to go and feel safe, so we joined the New York Botanical Garden, and I have not regretted paying for membership once! We love visiting the grounds and walking aimlessly, or with a purpose depending on the visit.

Goldfish Swim Classes – I wanted to highlight swim classes because of the importance of water safety. I’m well into my fourth decade walking this planet, and I do not know how to swim. Not knowing how to swim has kept me from many adventures in life, and I knew I didn’t want that for JustaBXgirl. Swim lessons are a must. I am sharing Goldfish Swim School as the place to look because they have multiple locations (even outside of NYC), they have beautiful and clean facilities and their methods work. JustaBXgirl has been taking classes for a little less than six months and has learned so much.
