I’ve been ordering subscription boxes since way before they were the cool thing to do. I’ve even sold my own subscription boxes when I was a book lady. Now that I’m a mom I have to really think about where I’m putting my money. One thing I believe you can never have enough of are books. I’ve been reading to JustaBXgirl since she was in my belly. I attribute all of that reading as to why she has a pretty strong vocabulary at the age of four.
I’ve been following Bookroo for some time now. Given the chance to try them out was something I jumped at. I was not expecting to be so impressed by the packaging alone. The Bookroo logo always makes me smile because the kangaroo makes me think of Roo from Winnie the Pooh grown up a little and Roo is very special to me. When the package arrived and I saw the logo on the box I smiled knowing that the books had arrived.
Opening the box, I was extremely impressed by the gift wrapped books. Both books in our box were wrapped in good quality paper that left the contents to be a surprise. JustaBXgirl looked at me to see if she was allowed to open such special gifts. She was delighted to find new titles under each wrapping and made me read them both that same day.
The two books included in our package were, A Dog Is A Dog and Mother Goose’s Pajama Party. Both of these books had JustaBXgirl laughing. We had to dance the sillies out after reading them. These were great for her age level because she was able to go along with the books easily. She started “reading” A Dog Is A Dog even before we got through it once because she realized the pattern to the story. She really liked that she knew many of the characters in the Mother Goose book.
The value in Bookroo is really good. The subscription boxes can be ordered monthly, for 3 months, for 6 months or for a whole year. This would make a really cool birthday present for a little that already has everything. It gets cheaper as you subscribe for longer but if you wanted to try it out or get it for someone as a one time gift you would pay less than $20 before shipping and handling. Where else can you get two hard cover children’s books for less than $20? Okay, there is the library! Just don’t forget to take those books back on time.
And did I mention if you are truly looking for a Baby Book Club Bookroo offers three board books in their baby box geared towards littles aged 0 – 2. The picture books are geared towards littles 2 – 6. I look forward to giving some Bookroo boxes for upcoming birthdays. And this small family run company just donated a day of profits toward Hurrican Harvey relief. How cool is that?
