I’m a sucker for pizza. It is one of my favorite foods. For the past few years, I have been celebrating Valentine’s Day with Pizza With Penny. We meet up with a group of friends and a few bottles of wine to celebrate love, friendship and of course the love of pizza at Pizza Barn in Yonkers.
It is one of my favorite days of the year because it is filled with so much laughter and light. The pizza is heart-shaped and so yummy. If you’re in the NYC area you should check them out. They are home to the Super Slice and yes, size does matter. Back to the point of the post. Nope, it’s not the pizza. Have I mentioned that I really like pizza?
For real though, the group has grown over the years. Friends tell friends that tell friends. We basically take up half of the shop. It really isn’t that big of a shop but yes, last year we took up half the shop with no exaggeration. We will probably expand our group this year since the holiday falls on a weekend and I’m already thinking about how to make it more fun. I mean, last year, we were literally crying from laughing so much that it isn’t hard to have a good time.
Thanks to my friends at Games Adults Play, I will be bringing some entertainment this year. Over pizza and vino, we will be playing Misery Index and May Cause Side Effects.
You probably have seen The Misery Index on TBS. It is a great way to learn (and judge) your friends. I’m joking kind of! I adore games like this because they allow you to learn new things about people you just met AND people you may have already known for years. It levels the playing field because everyone has their own opinions based on their own values. It’s funny to see how what some would rate high on The Misery Index wouldn’t bother someone else. I’m looking forward to seeing how the group does with this. I know when I’ve played Shit Happens with friends we rarely get through a game because we get too involved with discussing how bad something really might be.
May Cause Side Effects is going to have us getting kicked out of the pizza shop! It is too funny. It requires some brave souls because we will be acting completely foolish. It won’t be our fault though. Blame it on the side effects! I am GREAT at getting people to guess a word. Especially when I have certain friends on my team. Yet, I’m not sure how great I will do when I’m dealing with the side effects of the red and blue cards in this game. Do you think you could get your friends to guess GLUE while speaking like a flight attendant while being annoying and pinching everyone’s noses?
Make sure that you are following me on social media to check out all of the fun that we have playing. Remember that games aren’t just for the littles. Next time you’re planning a mom’s night out, consider instead having a mom’s night in or bringing your mom bag full of Games Adults Play for an added dose of fun.
