Autumn Reading List

Autumn Reading List

We received many of these title for review purposes. As always, all opinions are honest and my own. This post contains affiliate links.

How are we already in October? This year flew and I have been doing great at checking off my reading goals. I recently surpassed the goal I set for myself. I also recently began an Instagram page to share some of my everyday reading between bookshelf posts. Check it out, give me a follow, and let me know what books you would like to see featured on it. As for this season’s list, I have twelve books to check out from your local library or add to your personal bookshelves. Don’t forget to read a few banned books as NYPL (New York Public Library) and many other book lovers celebrate Banned Books Week this October.

Curse of the Night Witch (Bookshop Link) – JustaBXgirl really enjoyed this book. She thought the world building was good and the adventure kept her intrigued. It’s a great series for a middle grade reader that enjoys magic, friendship, and figuring things out. I enjoyed the short folktales included in the middle of the story.

The Strongest Heart (Bookshop Link) – I actually won a copy of this book back when I was on Twitter. Nope, I won’t call it the other name. I’ve just recently gotten around to checking it out and it was worth the wait. This book is powerful. It brings to light mental illness and how it can effect family members. This is done in a way that isn’t too heavy for a middle grade reader but still respects their intelligence and understanding. It can be a balm for someone living in a similar experience and can be a window for someone knowing someone being effected.

The Changelings (Bookshop) – Be careful what you wish for because you just might get it. Izzy worried that her new town was going to be boring. Boring is not the word to be used when it comes to the first book in The Changelings duology. Are you ready to venture to the Land of the Fairie with Izzy to help bring her little sister home?

Feast and Famine The Last Great Heir (Bookshop Link) – I love how this book handles weaving political intrigue and fantasy. Carina Finn does an excellent job of creating a world the characters and world are both well developed. Merri Feast and Rue Famine are expected to duel each other when they turn thirteen. This duo perspective read allows us to get to know each girl and her views on their world.

So Over Sharing (Bookshop Link) – The lives of Willow and Hadley are public because of their influencer moms. This fun read delves into their world as the girls bond over the problems of having Influencer moms that have no problem sharing real (and made up) moments of their lives. While it is a fun read, the subject is much more serious and can open the door to a lot of really good and necessary conversations between littles and bigs. Young people today are growing up in a world where little is private.

The Curiousity Chronicles Time Machine Trouble (Bookshop Link) – I loved Choose Your Own Adventure books when I was little so I knew this would be an awesome read. Can you protect the future of science? Pick up the book and do your best. Don’t worry, you can go back and try a new path if the one you select doesn’t have the preferred outcome! Get ready to get to decision making while picking up a few things about science along the way!

What Fish Are Saying (Bookshop Link) – Marine life has been a priority in our home since JustaBXgirl discovered Octonauts when she was about three years old. We love this book because it is full of marine life facts delivered in a fun engaging way. It teaches us about how animals make sounds and what those sounds are. We learn how they make the sounds, what they use the sounds for, and how they use those sounds to communicate. The illustrations are beautiful as well.

Leila and the Voice (Bookshop Link) – The illustrations in this book are so beautiful. They remind me of a dream world being brought into a dream world. Leila’s able to identify her feelings and face her fears. This read is great to discuss emotions with littles and to remind us bigs that emotions can take on lives of their own.

The Juneteenth Alphabet (Bookshop Link) – E is for Everyone! That’s right. And this book belongs on everyone’s shelves. It is more than a children’s book. It is a book on American history delivered in bitesize facts that allows us the ability to do more research to delve further into our country and its journey for freedom.

Version 1.0.0

My Mouth Says (Bookshop Link) – This is the third book in the series More About Your Body. I think the illustrations in this book are so beautiful and diverse. It is a wonderful way to introduce vocabulary to littles on parts of the mouth and to think about all of the different ways we use our mouths throughout the day.

Don’t Draw in This Book (Bookshop Link) – We love Larry books so this was a no brainer! It is another fun interactive book that will have you and your littles giggling and enjoying the story. If you love the Don’t Push The Button books then you will want to add this to your bookshelf ASAP.

A Merry Little Mystery (Bookshop Link) – I know, this is my Autumn Reading List but if I wait for my Winter Reading List to include this adorable read then you might not have time to pick it up, This book is perfect for Christmas Eve Boxes and Stocking Stuffers. It is so cute and gets you in the mood for the holidays. Is it too soon to put up my tree?
