One of my most favorite things to do for the Christmas season is visiting Santa. We normally visit two to three Santas a year. Our most favorite Santa to visit is at Macy’s. We have been going every year since JustaBXgirl was born. I actually would go occasionally before she was born with friends and family because it is Christmas magic brought to life.
The Santaland created by Macy’s truly is magic. If you have never been there please add it to your bucket list. There is so much to see and we love finding something new to obsess over every year when we visit and to see what has changed. Knowing that we would not be able to visit this year made me extremely sad. The idea of missing the opportunity to take pictures in the same places we have so many times before was a bit overwhelming.
I remember having a conversation with friends where I shared my despair. I know that sounds a little much but sometimes our losses hit us differently. I have lost a lot this year as I am sure you have. I have said goodbye to opportunities, places, people and things for good. Some for the better and some way too soon. I was not ready to say goodbye to this tradition. Especially knowing that this was the last year that I might be able to get to pick JustaBXgirl for some of the photos, I mean, she is already more than half my size! This might be the last year that she truly finds my silliness funny and not embarrassing. All of this was heavy on my heart when I received an email that helped to sooth it a bit.
Santaland is not canceled. Macy’s like many of us has found a way to PIVOT for 2020. Santaland will be virtual. We will be able to go visit the magic virtually. Will it be the same? Nope. Let’s be real, nothing about 2020 is the same. What will remain is the Christmas magic. We will go on tour with the elves and get to take a selfie with Santa.
You also can check out Santa’s social calendar to find other opportunities to hang with the homie. If you’re like me then you are doing your best to keep as much joy in your home as possible for your little. We are all under a lot of pressure, littles are not immune to the changes and losses happening around them. I’m grateful to Santaland for adding a bit of joy into the season for us.
We will be taking our virtual trip to Santaland this week. Did I mention that it is FREE? You know that is my favorite price! I gotta keep it real. Most days we (me) are not ready for our closeups so I have to get us ready but I am excited that Santa will be taking a photo with us in front of our tree this year.
