Holiday Gift Guide: This Year’s Big Ticket Item

We’re not even a sports type of family but we love this thing. This isn’t a gift for one person, this is a gift for the entire family. Do you know how difficult it can be to engage teens and tweens? What about those new adults? You know the family members that recently graduated and no know everything and have time for no one? I know. I’m always worried about space. Hello, we know I basically live in a toy store. Still, while this is a big item, it does fold up. 1. Connection – I realized the other day that I only have a little over 5 years until JustaBXgirl is JustaBXadult!!!! How did that happen? I know I’m not the only one coming to terms with how little time I have less as the mom to a minor, I’m not prepared to be mom to an adult. I am going to spend these next few years connecting with her every which way I can. Having items like this around helps. We both have tons of commitments and she has so many activities. Did you see her in Mean Girls Jr??? Our down time is limited. She’s also at the stage where socety tells her that hanging with her mom isn’t the coolest thing to do. Fortunately, she doesn’t listen to society and loves her mama. Still though, I want to keep her engaged and connected. Taking time away from our normal routines to play something like this also gives us time to check in. It might be easier to talk to mama when laughing about missing a few baskets then when staring at each other across the dinner table.
2. Education – You have been around this blog long enough to have guess this one. I love making fun things learning experiences. We are not a basketball family. Having this around is the perfect opening to discuss the team sport. If you have a little one that is into basketball, then this can be an oppurtunity for them to teach you about what they know. And then of course there is the traditional education opportunities available here. You can teach about angles. Little ones can practice counting with the score board. You can do simple addition and subtraction word problems based the score.
3. Fun – Do you really need a reason beyond this is fun. We all love playing these when we go to Dave & Buster’s or Chuck E. Cheese. You are tempted by the basketball arcade at fairs and theme parks. now, you get in your home. You can simply have fun. The littles will invite their friends over to play and they will be safe and have fun in your home. You will invite your friends over and you and them will have fun.
