It’s a double the fun month. You got a Game School post and now you’re getting a Toy School post! And yes, it has a game in it. Sue me. I couldn’t wait to share it next month but didn’t have the chance to share it a few weeks ago. Anyway, by now, everyone is over back to school. Regardless of what it looks like in your home, we all are at a point where our littles can use a little bit of fun. Here are a few items that you can add to their downtime that will be lots of fun and just as much learning!
Gobble Monster – We love the quickplay and fun times that Goliath Games bring to our home. I love that this game is fun for any age but a perfect way to work on time management, color recognition, and turn-taking with younger littles.
Pixicade – Screen time battles? Feel better about your littles playing games when they’re the ones designing the game! I featured the original version last year in this post and back in this holiday gift guide, now I am sharing about them again when they are back with a rebranding that includes more features and the same easy-to-understand directions. JustaBXgirl loves to use the in-game editing tools to make slight changes to her gameboards.
Sweet Candy Perfume Lab – Sephora isn’t giving out samples these days so what is a girl to do? You got it, she’s to create her own perfume in her Sweet Candy Perfume Lab! This is literally science class. It includes A 12-page guide to the process of perfume making and offers extensive information about the biology of smell, the chemistry of scents, and the art of making perfumes. Also, it comes with 6 fragrance packets that can be combined in a number of ways. Will your little find their passion as the next best perfumer?
Coding Critters MagiCoders – From screen time to screen-free, these are a wonderful way to introduce littles to coding without getting them caught up in the screen side of things. These cuties are a great way to merge fantasy play with STEM. Your littles can take their MagiCoders on all types of adventures with the push of a few buttons (coding). They’re designed to introduce preschoolers to the world of coding but I think that they can work even a bit older.
Yummy Rainbow Lip Balm Lab – Remember the song, My Lipgloss is Popping? This set can inspire a whole new generation of littles to get into the lab. Science meets beauty products is a win-win. It allows littles to learn more about what goes into the products they use and how the products work together. Not only is this set great for STEM learning, but it also can be an intro lesson for entrepreneurship. Get your littles thinking about how they will decorate their packaging, what flavors would “customers” enjoy, etc.
Pawz The Calming Pup – First, let’s talk about how adorable Pawz is. Second, let’s talk about how Pawz isn’t just for littles. This little guy can be used for a nightlight and in a mindfulness mode that helps us practice breathing techniques. Not sure about you and your family but I know that our emotions and anxiety levels have been high this past year. When JustaBXgirl is feeling overwhelmed, I remind her to sit with Pawz and center herself. While it might not be an academic lesson, it is one that will stay with her (and me) longer than school. You will be able to get your hands on this little buddy in mid-October. Pre-order now to make sure you don’t miss out.
